Towards Climate Resilience

‘Water Forever’ is a 50-year plan to make Perth and surrounding areas more climate resilient to ensure sufficient and sustainable water supplies for Western Australia.

Water Forever: Towards Climate Resilience looks at how we can ensure water for all, by addressing the challenges of our drying climate, increasing population while minimising our environmental impact.

Adopting a portfolio approach, Water Forever has identified over 800 gigalitres of source options to manage our demand and supply balance in the metropolitan area.

By 2030, we plan to:

  • reduce water use by 15%;
  • recycle 30% of wastewater; and
  • develop 70-100 gigalitres of new water sources.

To help increase the amount of water that is recycled, the Water Corporation recently announced that it will provide recycled water free of charge on an 'as-is where-is' basis for community uses.  For more information, please click here.
